【Abstract】With the development of modern information technology, information resources become more and more open, subject, fragmentation in the field of education. The micro-lecture, characterized by the movement of educational resources, the miniaturization of instructional design and the diversification of teaching methods, has appeared on this scene. This paper introduces the background and characteristics of the micro-lecture, and compares it with the traditional teaching method. Finally, this paper concludes that it is a proper way to integrate the micro-lecture with the traditional teaching method so as to improve the efficiency of classroom teaching.

【Key word】micro-lecture; traditional teaching; the effective integration

1. The background of the micro-lecture

In 1993, LeRoy A. McGrew in University of Northern Iowa proposed 60-second course. In 2006, Salman Khan launched the Khan Academy and brought the course videos into American basic education. In 2007, two American Chemistry Teachers put forward the flipped classroom. Over the years, different theories have been put forward. However, in fact, all of them are very similar to the micro-lecture.

Micro-lecture refers to actual instructional content that is formatted for?online?and?mobile learning?using a constructivist approach.?It carries out the combination of teaching and learning activities of all kinds of teaching resources.

2. The characteristics of micro-lecture

First, the micro-lecture has a clear theme. Micro-lecture is mainly to solve a certain point of knowledge in the teaching, especially for the difficult parts. The object of the micro-lecture is very clear, and is centered by all the designs for teaching. It pays attention to both teachers teaching and students learning. On the contrast, traditional teaching contains too many complex contents, and only pays attention to teachers teaching. Micro-lecture is a concentration of the essence of traditional teaching video.

Secondly, the micro-lecture is very short. Micro-lecture is mainly to stand out some key points, or reflect some teaching links. Compared with the complex traditional teaching, the content of micro-lecture is much more concise. According to the statistics, generally, the effective time for people to focus on the knowledge is 10 minutes. So, it is appropriate to make the micro-lecture in 5-8 minutes.

3. The characteristics of traditional teaching method

First, teachers are the center of teaching activities. The lively explanation and statement is helpful to arouse students' enthusiasm and make students think actively. But at the same time, we need to note that the traditional teaching mainly relies on the teachers oral presentations and writings on the blackboard, which really takes too much time in class and sometimes influences the effect of teaching.

Secondly, the traditional teaching method is very flexible. Teachers can adjust their teaching contents timely according to students receptivity, which is helpful for students to master the knowledge. Also, teachers own moral cultivation, taste, interest and so on will have a direct or indirect impact on their students.

Thirdly, students are apt to lose initiative in traditional teaching. They accept knowledge passively everyday and do not want to ask questions. Traditional teaching bounds students thinking and makes students gradually lose their initiative.

4. The effective integration

The micro-lecture and the traditional teaching method have their respective advantages and disadvantages. Therefore, we need to make an effective integration of the two, so as to improve the teaching efficiency

In the class, it is necessary to use both methods to improve student's attention. Students will feel dull and lose their attention if they are taught only by teachers oral presentations and writings. The micro-lecture solves this problem perfectly. It can not only enrich the form and content of teaching but also catch students attention. That is to say, the combination of the two methods helps to improve teaching efficiency.

After the class, we use the micro-lecture as an effective supplement of the traditional teaching. The micro-lecture can be flexibly used in many learning situations, such as online learning and face to face teaching or hybrid learning, and it meets a variety of learning need from public. Some points are difficult to understand timely in the class, so micro-lectures helps students to learn by themselves at any time.

5. Conclusion

Micro-lecture is a new teaching method in the field of education. It is not mature and perfect. Traditional teaching methods have developed for more than 100 years. It has both advantages and disadvantages. Therefore, when we make an effective integration of the two methods, the two methods will learn from each other, which is helpful to stimulate students interest in learning and cultivate students' active learning and thinking ability. Above all, the teaching effect will be enhanced a lot in this way.
