凯特·斯蒂文斯（Cat Stevens）是上世纪70年代英国民谣摇滚的代表人物。斯蒂文斯的音乐生涯可以用几句话概括：1967年出道；1968年因感染肺结核暂别乐坛；1970年以《尸骨的肖像》（Mona Bone Jakon）复出，此后推出了民谣摇滚史上的经典之作《农夫的茶》（Tea for the Tillerman）和《逗弄者与火焰猫》（Teaser and the Firecat）；1977年皈依伊斯兰教，次年改名为Yusuf Islam；1979年底退出乐坛，2006年重返乐坛。虽然走红的时间并不长，但凯特·斯蒂文斯（尽管已改名，但大多数人还是习惯这样叫他）的音乐影响力甚大。

斯蒂文斯的音乐似乎总能自带画面—开口的瞬间，写意的英伦田园风光便随之展现在你眼前。其中最具代表性的是1970年发表的录音室专辑《农夫的茶》。在制作这张专辑的时候，斯蒂文斯的妻子和别人跑了，歌曲《顽固的女人》（Hard Headed Woman）指的就是他的前妻。虽然内心痛苦，但《农夫的茶》并没有因此酿成一壶苦茶，依然保有民谣的清新质朴，令人回味无穷。每一杯“茶”都蕴含了斯蒂文斯深刻的思想，比如《孩子们去哪里玩耍呢？》（Where Do the Children Play?）表达了他对现代科技文明过度发展的忧虑，《父与子》（Father and Son）则讲述了父与子的代沟问题。而其中最为人津津乐道的一杯“茶”就是《狂野世界》。我们不知道离他而去的是他心爱的姑娘，还是他的女儿，但我们能看到他对她的爱。一字一句，一唱一吟，无一不是对姑娘出外闯荡的担忧—外面的世界很精彩，外面的世界很无奈，望你珍重，愿你幸福。
