Attended by the High-Profile Delegation of Singapore, the Guest of Honor of Smart China Expo 118 Projects with Value of US$21.4 Billion Signed by Chinese and Singaporean Enterprises in Four Key Areas

Being home to the Sino-Singapore (Chongqing) Strategic Interconnection Demonstration Project, Chongqing has been in close contact with Singaporean government of all ranks. As the Guest of Honor of the first session of Smart China Expo,Singapore sends a high-profile delegation led by Wu Zuodong,the Honorary Minister of the State, to Chongqing. The delegation consists of Chen Youming, the Minister of Foreign Affairs as well as the senior Parliamentary Secretary of the Ministry of Trade and Industry, Chen Jiehao, the director of Info-Communications Media Development Bureau and many other government officials as well as over 200 representatives from more than 40 Singaporean enterprises running businesses in ICT(Info-Communication Technology).

The media conference of Singaporean Info-Communications Media Development Bureau and the Singapore-Chongqing High-End Forum on Digital Economy and Corporate Matchmaking Event are successfully held during the Smart China Expo.

At the Singapore-Chongqing High-End Forum on Digital Economy and Corporate Matchmaking Conference, the deputy mayor Liu Guiping addresses that ICT(Info-Communication Technology) is among the four key fields in Sino-Singapore(Chongqing) Strategic Interconnection Demonstration Project.A great success of the Smart China Expo will enhance the corporation between Chongqing and Singapore in the digital economy. Singaporean experts and scholars serving for the project of Building the Advanced Smart City in Asia have aired their opinions on how to grow Chongqing’s and China’s digital economy at the conference. Xu Lina, a senior director of the Infocommunications Media Development Authority of Singapore says the cultivation of digital talents is a key part to grow the digital economy. She also hopes that Chongqing and other Chinese cities should attach great importance to the cultivation of digital talents in promoting digital economy, which, she says, is the basis for accelerating digital transformation. Lu Wen, the director of NCS(National Computer System) Group (China) believes that the aim of the Smart City is to integrate IT technology into everyone's work and life. Sun Wei, the Minister of Electronics and Information Technology of Singapore thinks Chongqing has great potential in the development of smart transportation.

Located at the S1 Area, the Singaporean Pavilion covers an area of over 1,100 square meters. This session’s theme,“Intelligence: Injecting Momentum into Economy; Adding Colors to Life”, is conveyed in a clear and friendly way. It attracts a continuous stream of visitors. Fruitful outcomes have been achieved by Chongqing and Singapore during the Smart China Expo. China's leading software and IT service providers- iSoftStone signed the memorandums of understanding with three Singaporean enterprises, namely, Smart Element Co.,Ltd, Softfoundry International Pte. Ltd. and ViDimensions Co.,Ltd to jointly build Chongqing into a cyber city. veriTAG Co.,Ltd, a cloud label technology company, as well as another Singaporean enterprise have signed a number of memorandums of understanding with Chongqing government to jointly build a Blockchain laboratory and a operation center in Chongqing Liangjiang New Area.

Singaporean official, Chen Youming, the senior Minister of Foreign Affairs as well as the Minister of Trade and Industry,says that this Smart China Expo is a good example of global cooperation. Chongqing, the gateway for Singaporean companies to enter the China’s western market, is undergoing a rapid economic transformation.

Singaporean official, Chen Zhihao, the Minister of Transport says,”I hope more Singaporean companies could expand their businesses in Chongqing and western China. And I also welcome more Chinese corporations to grow their businesses in our country in corporation with our enterprises. I look forward to close corporation with China to promote the growing of digital economy in both countries.”

During the Smart China Expo, Han Baochang, the director of the Sino-Singapore Project Management Bureau, says 118 cooperation projects in four key fields have been signed by companies of both countries so far. The capital involved hits over US$21.4 billion. For China’s western area, these projects contribute to its wider opening pattern to the outside world and the formation of a new phase of all-around two-way opening up with links running eastward and westward over land and sea.
