China supports relevant companies and individuals in seeking legal action to protect their interests and refusing to be victimized like “silent lambs,” declared Chinese State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi on March 8.

He made the remarks when answering a question regarding Huawei during a press conference on the sidelines of the country's annual legislative session.

The recent action against this Chinese company and an individual employed by it is by no means purely a judicial case, but a deliberate political move against the company, Wang said, adding that China has taken and will continue to take all necessary measures to resolutely protect the legitimate rights and interests of Chinese firms and citizens.

“We are standing up for not only the interests of a company, but also those of a country and the nation's legitimate right to development, and by extension the basic rights of all countries which wish to climb the technology ladder,” Wang said.

China hopes all parties will follow the rules, overcome prejudice, create a level playing field for businesses of all countries, and provide a safe and reliable environment for interactions between people of all countries, Wang said.
