Recently the project “Development of high‐efficiency acrylonitrile catalyst and commercial test of improved type SANC‐11+ catalyst for producing acrylonitrile”developed by the SINOPEC Shanghai Research Institute of Petrochemical Technology (SRIPT) has passed the appraisal organized by the Sinopec Corp. The expert team attending the appraisal meeting has admitted that the improved SANC‐11+ catalyst developed by the said project features high product yield along with good pressure resistance and stability, with its consumption data being at the leading level in the industry. The acrylonitrile produced thereby has met the standard for premium products coupled with a clean environment in production site, and the comprehensive performance of the catalyst has reached an international leading level.

The said project has innovatively combined the in‐situ pulse experiment with the in‐situ XRD to systematically investigate the structural composition of main active phases of acrylonitrile catalyst and its redox law, and the research team through optimizing components of the catalyst and improving the catalyst preparation method has eventually successfully developed a novel high‐efficiency SANC‐11+ catalyst for preparation of acrylonitrile through ammoxidation of propylene.

The catalyst has completed a one‐ton‐class scale‐up test and industrial production in the SINOPEC Shanghai Catalyst Branch Company. The commercial test had been carried out on an 130 kt/a acrylonitrile industrial unit of Shandong Keruer Chemical Company to display good calibration results.
