Clinical value of serum β-CTX, CatheK and OPG in diagnosis of postmenopausal osteoporosis

[Abstract] Objective To analyze the clinical value of detection of serum type 1 collagen carboxyl terminal peptide(β-CTX), cathepsin K(CatheK)and osteoprotegerin(OPG)in diagnosis of postmenopausal osteoporosis. Methods A total of 85 postmenopausal patients with abnormal bone admitted to our hospital from February 2018 to March 2020 were selected as the research objects. According to the diagnostic criteria of osteoporosis of the World Health Organization, 40 patients with T value from -2.5 to 1.0 point were included in the osteopenia group, and 45 patients with T value <-2.5 were included in the osteoporosis group. Thirty-five postmenopausal women with normal bone were selected and included in the normal group. All subjects were tested for β-CTX, CatheK and OPG. The levels of β-CTX, CatheK and OPG in three groups were counted. The values of β-CTX, CatheK and OPG in diagnosis of osteoporosis were analyzed by receiver operating characteristic curve(ROC). Results β-CTX of(8.95±1.74)μg/L and Cathek of (35.14±8.41)ng/L in osteoporosis group were higher than those in osteopenia group [(2.34±0.71) μg/L and(29.85±6.31)ng/L], followed by the normal group[(0.53±0.24)μg/L and(21.63±5.41)ng/L](P<0.05). Pearson showed that bone mineral density in osteoporosis patients was positively correlated with serum β-CTX and CatheK levels, and negatively correlated with OPG levels(r>0, P<0.05). Logistic linear regression analysis showed that the increase of serum β-CTX and CatheK levels and the decrease of OPG levels may be the influencing factors of postmenopausal osteoporosis(P<0.05). ROC curve showed that the AUC of serum β-CTX, CatheK and OPG alone in diagnosis of postmenopausal osteoporosis were 0.873, 0.813 and 0.885, all of which were larger than 0.800, and the diagnostic efficacy was satisfactory. Conclusion Serum β-CTX, CatheK and OPG can be used to diagnose menopausal osteoporosis, and OPG has the highest diagnostic value, which can provide some basis for clinical intervention or treatment.
