I am the Namibian ambassador to China. The Namibian people are very much impressed with the way the Communist Party of China (CPC) governs China with its policy of socialism with Chinese characteristics in the new era. After reading several reports covering the 20th CPC National Congress on the website ofChina Today, I found much inspiration for our country in the CPC’s peoplecentered policies, particularly its achievement in poverty reduction and common prosperity. The People’s Republic of China is a real promoter of democracy in the world by having a government of and for the people, with the country providing an example of genuine prosperity and development for its people in the modern era. Actually, Hage Geingob, president of Namibia and also the current president of the ruling SWAPO Party, has already sent a congratulatory message to the CPC leadership, in which we expressed our consistent support to the one-China principle. As an old friend of China and its people, we are confident in the capability of the CPC in achieving lasting greatness for the Chinese nation and the noble cause of peace and development for humanity. And we hope to further deepen exchanges with China and learn from its experience.

I am a Pakistan-based radio journalist, with more than seven years’ experience in the media industry. I read some articles in the column of Special Report inChina Today’s November issue, including “Embarking on a New Journey Toward Modernization,” “A Self-Confident Spirit Ahead,” and “Foreign Perspectives on the Chinese Path.” Some statistics shared in the article impressed me a lot. For example, in the article titled, “A Self-Confident Spirit Ahead,” it mentioned that China has become the major trading partner of over 140 countries and regions, leading the globe in the total volume of trade in goods, and it accounts for 18.5 percent of the world economy, up 7.2 percentage points over the past decade. My question is how China has gone about achieving these goals. If we look back at history, we can see that this nation has been constantly improvising according to the changing times and conditions. The Chinese leadership, which is always consensus-oriented and makes well-thought-out decisions, has done their duty by realizing the destiny of the Chinese people and transforming their lives for the better. We must appreciate their foresight and progressive thinking, which prioritizes the welfare of their people over and above many other potential concerns. Under the leadership of the CPC, China, a country that was primarily an agricultural nation about 70 years ago, today boasts the world’s most extensive education and social welfare systems, the largest high-speed railway network, and cutting-edge technologies in many sectors, all of which were made possible by its innovative development concepts and forward-looking and viable long-term plans.
