On April 17, the “Amazing Thailand Road Show to China 2023—Phuket & the Andaman+” campaign, co-organized by the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) and Phuket Tourism Business Association, was held in Chongqing. Representatives of 56 enterprises from the Thai tourism industry delegation had business talks with over 100 tourism enterprises and 200 tourism industry operators from Chongqing, Sichuan and Shaanxi, as well as other provinces and cities.

Composed of a Thailand product introduction session and a marketing briefing session, this roadshow showcased Thailands new quality tourism products and services, gave Thai entrepreneurs knowledge of local tourist behavior and marketing campaign, provided face-to-face business meetings for tourism industry operators from both countries, and promoted the trading of tourism goods.

China has long been a very important source of tourists for Thailand. As an important inland port city in China, Chongqing is the main hub of logistics and transit between eastern and western China. Currently, there are an average of 25 flights per week between Chongqing Bangkok.

As one of the first member cities of the Lancang-Mekong Tourist Cities Cooperation Alliance, Chongqing has given full play to its advantages in recent years, such as the juncture of Belt and Road and Yangtze River Economic Belt, and has achieved fruitful results in the field of culture and tourism with Thailand and other five countries along Mekong River, said Hou Yufeng, Level-Ⅱ Inspector at Chongqing Municipal Commission of Culture and Tourism Development. Next, Chongqing Municipal Commission of Culture and Tourism Development will continue to maintain close contact with Thailand for further cooperation in tourism and mutual promotion of tourism brands with reciprocal policies.

In 2022, the “Tourism Year of Thailand” launched with the theme of “Amazing Thailand, Amazing New Chapters” and the annual campaign called “Tiew Muang Thai Ying Pai Ying Sanook” (the more one travels to Thailand, the more fun they enjoy), said Tanes Petsuwan, TAT Deputy Governor for International Marketing—Asia and South Pacific. Committed to quality tourism, TAT will ensure that every traveler can travel with peace of safety, comfort and happiness during their stay in Thailand. In addition, TAT will also actively cooperate with civil aviation companies to increase the number of Chinese flights to Thailand to the pre-pandemic level.
