钟祥市博物馆暨明代帝王文化博物馆位于湖北钟祥市，是以生于此地的明代第11位皇帝嘉靖帝（1507-1567）为主题的展馆。地段北邻世界文化遗产明代帝陵之一的明显陵，西接莫愁湖，浓郁的历史文化氛围与幽美的自然景色相得益彰。

博物馆借鉴了中国传统的园林意象，粉墙将主次展馆围合其中，形成自然风景中的“园中之园”。建筑沿明代文物少司马石坊、铜门、影壁和主馆的轴线展现了帝王主题的庄严秩序，而游人则通过园林式的绕行路径，感受到步移景异的空间体验。建筑内外相互渗透的半室外空间，形成闭馆后当地市民游憩的城市公共性场所。简洁的白墙则作为主要的外部形象衬托出石坊精美的雕刻工艺。

方形通透的建筑掩映在自然中，宛如传统画卷上的一方印鉴，园墙上自由的景窗和大片的留白，更赋予建筑以中国山水画意境。

Located in zhongxiang city, the project is a theme museum of Ming Emperor Jiajing (1507-1567) who was born here. Close to the World Cultural Heritage Xianling Tomb, one of the Imperial Tombs of Ming Dynasty, and east to Mochou Lake, the museum is of graceful landscape.

Inspired by images of Chinese traditional gardens, the exhibition halls are surrounded by the white walls outside, creating "Gardens in the Garden" within the natural landscape. Besides, the space spreads out along the central axis starting from the Shaosima stone gateway, a cultural relic of Ming Dynasty, to the main hall, emphasizing the solemnity of ritual ceremonies. With a circulated winding pathway inside, the museum provides a dynamic visiting experience. Local people could enjoy wandering through the pathways around the halls even when the museum is closed.

The square transparent volume blends well with the nature, reminding people of a Chinese seal on a long scroll painting. The rhythmic viewing windows on the facade and the blank-leaving both produce images of the Chinese traditional shan shui painting.
