简介:1982年,柯林・冈下胜美博士从加拿大渥太华圭尔夫大学载誉毕业。之后,他在美国夏威夷一家名为贝尔高林(Belt Collins)的公司工作了13年。在此期间,该公司在亚洲设立几家代表处;后来,柯林・冈下胜美博士成为地区总裁兼常务董事,主要负责新加坡、马来西亚及泰国业务。1996年,柯林・冈下胜美博士成立了自己的公司Colin K. Okashimo and Associates,该公司面向新加坡以外的亚洲地区,主要业务包括区域土地利用规划、城市总体规划及景观建筑。柯林・冈下胜美博士接下来全身心地投入美术事业,1999年,他在英国伦敦切尔西大学完成美术(雕塑)硕士学位课程。为了追求更加严苛且有意义、让人难以忘怀的作品,柯林・冈下胜美博士于2007年在英国伦敦艺术大学完成博士学位课程。他的一篇登记论文保存在英国图书馆,名为《Art as Contemplative Place with Reference to the Sited Works of Isamu Noguchi》。作为一名规划大师、景观建筑师及雕塑家,他将激情和注意力集中到研究、冥想、朝圣地以及创造令人难忘的宁静之地上。他写了一本书,名为《制造宁静:柯林・冈下胜美艺术作品集》。

Biography: Dr Colin Okashimo graduated with honors from the University of Guelph, Ontario, Canada in landscape architecture in 1982. He was then employed for 13 years by Hawaiian frm, Belt Collins, to set up offces in Asia and later became the regional president and managing director responsible for Singapore, Malaysia and Thailand. In 1996 he set up his own practice, Colin K. Okashimo and Associates, based out of Singapore specializing in regional land use planning, masterplanning and landscape architecture. Dr Okashimo then followed a lifelong passion of fne arts and completed a Masters in Fine Arts (Sculpture) at the Chelsea College in London, UK, in 1999. In pursuit of doing more critical and rigorous work that is both meaningful and memorable, he then completed a PhD at the University of the Arts (London) in 2007. A copy of his registered thesis is with the British Library and is titled ‘Art as Contemplative Place with Reference to the Sited Works of Isamu Noguchi’. As a master planner, landscape architect and sculptor his passion and focus are on researching, meditating, sacred sites/pilgrimages and creating memorable places of powerful calm. His book is titled ‘Provoking Calm: The Artworks of Colin K. Okashimo’ and the frm’s website is www.ckoa.com.sg and www.colinokashimo.com .
