All children love to play, wherever you go in the world. In a school inBritain at playing time, you will see children playing all sorts of games. And after school if the weather is good and when homework is done, you are sure to find children playing outdoors too.

Everywhere you look in a playground, children are "chasing each other!Games of chase are hugely popular in Britain, just like everywhere else in the world. There are lots of types of chase game, and lots of different names forthem depending on which part of the UK you visit.“Tig", “Tag", or“Dobby" areall names for the same game. In those games, somebody is“it” or“on”. Theymust chase their friends and try to catch them by slapping or tapping them onthe shoulder. When they do, they shout“Tig! You're it!"

There is one game of tag that can be played by the whole school! Britishbulldog is a tag game that often 2involves lots of players. In British bulldog, a group of players line up on one side of a playing field or playgroundand they have to run to the other side. But it isn't that simple. Inthe middle of the field stand the bulldogs. Their task is to catch therunners and tag them, turning them into bulldogs too. The game is overeither when the bulldogs have caught everybody, or there is one personleft, who is 3)declared the winner! British bulldog can be quite a physicalgame, and because it is played over a big area, it can take up a lot ofspace. For these reasons, some schools don't allow it.

One of the best things about tag games is you don't need any extra4)equipment, like a bat or ball to play. Some games though do need equipment.Ball games are always popular, and wherever you look in the UK you will findchildren playing football. Often, if there are no 5goalposts to use, children willuse their jumpers or coats as goalposts instead.

Another popular piece of kit that is found in many playgrounds is a skippingrope. Children take it in turns skipping into the swinging rope and jumping, while a6)rhyme is chanted.

At the weekends, when there is lots of time to play, many boys and girls enjoyskating and skateboarding. Most towns have skate parks, which are places wherethere are Tramps and rails for doing tricks. Riding bikes is fun too. BMX bikes aregreat for doing tricks and jumps, and some towns have special tracks for peopleto race or practice tricks at.

Whatever types of game you like toplay, there are lots to choose from.

环顾一下操场,你会看到到处都是追逐嬉戏的孩子!与世界其他地方一一样,捉人游戏在英国也非常受欢迎。英国流行的捉人游戏有很多种,而且在英国不同的地方,捉人游戏的名字会有所不同,比如“滴答”(Tig或Tag)或“杜比” (Dobby)其实都是指捉人游戏。在这些游戏中,有个孩子是追人者,他要尽力追赶其他小伙伴,一旦追上,拍下他们的肩膀就算追赶成功。此时,追人者要喊“捉到你啦!”

有一种捉人的游戏可以使整个学校的学生参与其中!“英国喇叭狗”是一种参加人数众多的捉人游戏。在这种游戏中,一队参与者在操场的一端站成一排,他们需要跑到操场的另一端。但这个游戏并非如此简单。追人者会站在操场中间,他们的任务就是捉到被追者之后将其变成追人者。当追人者追到所有的被追者,游戏就结束了。或者仅剩一个人没有被追到时,此人就是游戏的胜利者!“英国喇叭狗”是个耗费体力的游戏,而且这种游戏所需的场地也很大。正是由于这些原因,有些学校不允许开展这项游戏。

玩捉人游戏的好处之一是不需要特别准备器械,比如球拍或球。然而有些游戏却需要器械。球类运动在英国一直很受欢迎,无论走到哪里,你都可以看到孩子们踢足球。如果没有门柱,孩子们通常情况下会用毛衣或外套来充当门柱。

操场上常见的另一种受欢迎的体育用品是跳绳。孩子们反复吟唱着儿歌,轮流跳进正在摆动的绳子并不断跳跃。

周末玩的时间比较充裕,很多男孩子和女孩子喜欢玩滑冰和滑板。大多数镇都有滑冰场,在这些场地里有练习技巧用的坡道和轨道。骑自行车也同样有趣,越野赛使用的自行车可以做出很炫的技巧和跳跃动作。有些城镇有比赛专用车道习技巧所需的车道。

不论你喜欢玩哪种游戏,总有很多游戏供你選择。
