如何甄别易混淆的名词

名词，是高考英语的常考内容之一。有些英语名词，含义相近或相同，若把握不透彻，极易混淆不清，出现张冠李戴的错误。对此，笔者就高中英语中一些常见的易混淆名词进行了归纳，以期能够帮助同学们准确辨析和应用。

易混淆名词之一：energy， strength， power， force

在英语中，energy， strength， power， force 这四个名词均带有“力，力量”之意，但其侧重点和所指范围可谓大相径庭。

其中，energy 侧重指人的精力、活力、干劲。如：①He put all her energies into her work. 他把全部精力都投入到工作中去了。②She’s always full of energy.她总是充满活力。

strength 侧重人的體力、力气、毅力。如：Theypushed against the rock with all his strength.他们用全部力量推那块石头。②She has finished all her coursewith a fabulous strength. 她以惊人的毅力完成了所有的课程。

power 范围最广，是各种力的总称，既指动力、电力等力，也指人所具有的能力、权力、势力等。如：①He had lost the power of speech.他丧失了语言能力。②They wish to limit the power of the State.他们希望限制政府的权力。③They’ve switched off the power. 他们关掉了电源。

force，侧重“武力，暴力”，或指能造成损害的自然力量。比如：①Teachers aren’t allowed to use force incontrolling their pupils. 教师不被允许用暴力管理学生。②Severe damage witnessed the destructive forceof the storm. 严重的损失表明了这场暴风雨巨大的破坏力。

易混淆名词之二：scene，sight，scenery，view

在英语中，scene，sight，scenery，view 这四个名词均含有“景色，景象，场景”之意，但四者仍有着一定的差异。

scene 多指电影、电视、戏剧等特定场景，或不愉快事件发生的场面等。如：①She witnessed somevery distressing scenes. 她目睹过一些令人非常痛苦的场面。② To add verisimilitude， the stage is coveredwith sand for the desert scenes. 为了更加逼真，舞台上铺满了沙子作为沙漠的场景。

sight 多指旅游观光的风景名胜，或看得见的奇特、壮观之景。如：The Great Wall is one of the mostbreathtaking sights in the world.长城是世界上最壮观的景象之一。

scenery 指某一国家或地区的群山、森林、草原等自然风景。如：The grassland scenery here is unrivalled.这里的草原风景是无与伦比的。

view 指从某处所看见的景色。如：We will get afine view of beautiful green countryside from the top ofthe hill.从山顶上我们可以清楚地看见美丽的绿色田园景象。

易混淆名词之三：incident，accident， event， af⁃fair

incident，accident，event，affair 这四个名词，均与“事件”息息相关，但它们之间仍存在不同之处，具体体现在：

incident 侧重“日常突发的小插曲事件，或指暴力的事件”等。如：①He told me about some of theamusing incidents of her holiday. 他告诉我他度假时发生的一些有趣的事情。②There was a shooting incidentnear here last night. 昨晚这附近发生了枪击事件。

accident 指“意外的事情，不测事件或事故”。如：①Drunk driving is an important reason which causestraffic accidents. 酒后驾车，是全球引起交通事故的重要原因。②Barring accidents， I believe they will succeed.不出意外的话，我相信他们会成功的。

event 主要指“国家的、历史的或社会的重要事情”。如：①The Olympic Games was the main event of2008. 那次奥运会是2008 年的主要大事。②Unemploymentproblem has become the major event of theeconomic development of our country. 失业问题已成为我国经济发展的头等大事。

affair 强调“政治事件、公共或国际事务”等。如：Representatives of different nationalities gather in thesame hall to discuss affairs of state. 各族人民代表齐聚一堂，共商国家大事。

总之，英语中易混淆的名词，可谓是不胜枚举。在平时的高中英语学习中，同学们要注意对易混淆的名词进行归类整理，仔细辨析用法差异，准确把握和积累，从而避免语用错误。
