Abstract:Context is the totality of environment information related to objects, which helps to understand the meaning of objects. With a certain curatorial intent, reconstructing context of objects in museums can visualize the complex relationships among people, events and objects; also concretize abstract historical background and scientific concept. In recent years, some museums have adopted immersive multimedia devices to carry out the practice of situational reconstruction. These practices expand the scope of the reconstructed environment, innovate the visiting experience, and serve the communication aims in both educational and emotional terms. This paper attempts to study the characteristics of this kind of multimedia context reconstruction through some cases, and puts forward suggestions from the four aspects: topic selection and research, content arrangement, spatial design and interpretive activities.

Lu Junhui Zhao Hongtao

Abstract:Over recent years, more and more museums have represented and communicated scientific methodologies in educational activities, but there are still many problems demanding prompt solution. This study finds that the root cause of these problems is that the curators of many museum educational activities have not figured out the following three issues: “Is there any” - Is there any connotation of scientific methodologies embedded in the exhibits? “How to find” - How to discover and unearth the scientific methodology information in the exhibits? “How to teach” - How to use the exhibits to effectively carry out educational activities of scientific methodology? This study puts forward several strategies and suggestions on promoting science methodologies education in museums, with its core as follows: digging out the information in exhibits in depth and learning science methodologies in thescientificinquirypractice, that’s the exact value and unique advantages of carrying out educational activities of science methodologies in museums.
