Global economic integration has boosted the cooperation and exchanges among countries, so the progress in science and cultural exchanges has gradually become the mainstream of economic and social development in various countries. Due to the early industrial revolution in western developed countries, industrialization accelerated the pace of economy and at the same time led to the improvement in their scientific, technological and economic fields.

To sum up, translation plays an important role in economic development and cultural exchange and serves as an important bridge between Chinese and Western cultures. Under the background of economic globalization, people put forward higher requirements for English translation, so the translation practice should not only be confined to the level of language transformation but also fully consider the differences between Chinese and western culture and reasonable use of translation skills to enhance the quality of English translation, cross-cultural communication and guarantee the fluent communication.

Financial English is a kind of literary style with its own characteristics which is gradually independent from business English. It covers many fields, in addition to the political, economic and financial aspects, including trade, commerce, and its content involves the macroeconomic operation, financial regulations, financial institutions, financial markets, financial regulation, business, management, credit, bank accounting, foreign trade, and many other businesses.

First of all, in terms of vocabulary, the most prominent feature of financial English vocabulary is the rich vocabulary and wide use of professional terms. First, many general English words have specific meanings in financial English texts.

Secondly, in terms of sentences, there are many long and complicated sentences in financial English. Restrictions and explanatory elements such as phrases and clauses are often inserted into the sentences, forming long and complex sentence structures. Sometimes a sentence becomes a paragraph. These long sentences with complex structure can not only express complex meanings, make the writing rigorous and compact, but also emphasize the main information and enhance the formality of the writing.

Third, in terms of grammar, which of financial English is relatively simple. The present tense is often applied, while the passive voice is most common, because the passive voice has the characteristics of close structure, accurate semantics, strict expression and strong logic.

In the process of financial English translation, translators will encounter a large number of long and complex sentences. When dealing with sentences with ordinary complexity, the translator should first clarify the logical relationship of the sentence, find out the subject of the sentence, and then rearrange the word order of the sentence in according to the language habits of Chinese, so as to accurately express its connotation. When translating long sentences with great complexity, such as inverted sentences, imperative sentences, elliptical sentences, etc., the translator has to convert the language according to the specific context, and usually the free translation is applied.

In the process of translation, translators should pay attention to the translation of proverbs. For proverbs, the translator should respect the style and habits of the source text to ensure the accuracy of the translation. In addition, English translation often involves the change of voice, which is also an important part of English translation. For example, when the translator encounters the English passive voice, he/she should accordingly convert the passive voice in English. If necessary, he can first convert it into the active voice, and then translate it into Chinese, so as to ensure that the translated sentence can be well understood by Chinese readers.

English tends to utilize nouns in texts, so the narrative is stative. Chinese tends to utilize verbs in texts, so the narration is dynamic. Financial English texts are no exception. Therefore, many nouns or nominalization structures have to be converted into verbs or verb-object structures in translation, which is in line with Chinese expression habits. In addition, there are many adjectives that modify nouns, which we also convert into adverbs or phrasal verbs as needed. Therefore, the timely conversion of part of speech can help the translator to convey the information of the original text better. Otherwise, the translation may be too hard and obscure to read because of the method of alienation.

At the same time, there are many reasons resulting in poor translation.

The objective reasons include: language differences, thinking mode differences and cultural difference. First of all, language differences are mainly manifested in the following aspects: English is a hypotaxis language while Chinese is a parataxis language; English is a static language while Chinese is a dynamic language. The main subjective reasons include lack of language competence, lack of knowledge and insufficient translation practice. To do a good job in translation, one must not only have a solid foundation of English, but also master idiomatic Chinese expression methods. Otherwise, you will be tripped over by some patterns of English.
