CCS issued the first principle approval certificate on Apr. 15thof 2015 in Shanghai. CCS approval to SCR is an innovation in approval mode.Customarily, the core of SCR, i.e. the research of catalytic agent has completed, however, the designed product has yet to be produced. It is still in the stage of concept design and classification society cannot conduct type approval.Therefore, diesel engine manufacturers will not choose this product because it has not been approved by classification society. SCR manufacturers have to face the dilemma of“designing and producing the product with no real use just for the approval of classification society”.
In order to fit with design, industry application and approval of this complex system, CCS has introduced a new approval mode, dividing SCR approval into AIP and GA. In the first place, approval will be done to catalyst performance and the accuracy of modeling tool of SCR system. Thus, after AIP approval, SCR system designers can make auxiliary machine design for diesel engine according to the approval scope, and as a further step, can carry out market promotion.
Experts from CCS said that the first principle approval certificate was the first time that IACS member classification society carries out principle approval service in product certification field. It is an innovative attempt to meet customers’ demands and accomplish target service ideas. For CCS, the principle approval has several major characteristics. It would facilitate the identification of new design, better serve scientific research area; provide enterprises with more flexible and attractive service; be conducive to technical exchanges and service at early stage and bring forward risk control and verification of key technology. For enterprises, principle approval is good for reducing the risk of uncertainty of design solution and cost, it would guarantee design’s compliance with rule and the market exploration demand; shorten delivery time and approval of substitute design and avoid the risk of belowstandard performance of system.
Principal approval breaks the limits of traditional approval modes for new products, new designs and new principals and satisfies the demands of customers for technical research and market. It maintains the flexibility and promotes technical development, and at the same time,it retains lots of choices for the approval ensued. What is more precious is that the basic design principle approved can be promoted to the practical engineering design to reduce similar and repeated verification test or calculation analysis in order to lay the foundation for the future type approval or real ship system design and approval; at the same time, it has strong reference for the approval of the great number of new technology which is emerging currently, such as energy conservation and emission reduction technology, high-pressure engine supplying system, new fuel bin technology, EGR (exhaust gas recirculation) and WHR(waste heat recovery) systems.
